The purpose

Popularizing and promoting art music, focusing on chamber music

Department

1. Piano Solo Section: Live Performance Style, YouTube Video Style. There are preliminary rounds
for both styles . 2. Chamber Music Section: Live Performance Style, YouTube Video Style. There are no preliminary rounds for both styles.

Award

◆Grand Prize: 1 group of 100,000 yen (1 group from all prize winners)
◆Right to perform at concert series and music festivals in Japan and overseas

This year, she is scheduled to perform at the Morellino Music Festival in Italy , a recital at Nakasatsunai, Hokkaido’s most beautiful village, and other concerts sponsored by Arts Spread.

*Past awards include the Winner’s Concert in Mozart Haus – Bosendorfer Hall in Vienna, Austria; the Salzburger Schlosskonzerte Mirabell in Salzburg, Austria; the Mai Festival in Rellingen, Germany; the UNT Summer String Institute in Texas, USA; the Salzburg-Mozart International Chamber Music Competition in Tokyo Winner’s Concert in New York, USA; the Yamaha Salon Concert Series in Ginza, Tokyo; the Nakasatsunai Village Culture Month Recital in Hokkaido; the Mizuki Hall Weekday Concert; and concerts sponsored by Arts Spread.
*Performers and dates are determined based on the requests of each concert organizer. Therefore, appearances at these concerts are not guaranteed for all winners.
*The above prizes apply to all categories and styles: Piano Solo Division (Live Performance Style) and YouTube Video Style; Chamber Music Division (Live Performance Style) and YouTube Video Style.

Preliminary round (piano section only)

In the piano solo category, there will be preliminary rounds (video screening) for both “live performance style” and “YouTube video style.”
The deadline for piano category applications is Monday, February 16th, the deadline for submitting preliminary round videos is Thursday, February 19th,
the results of the piano category preliminary round will be announced on Tuesday, February 24th, and the deadline for payment of the participation fee for the final round is Friday, February 27th.

The audition date and time will be notified to each applicant by email after the application deadline. The audition schedule (songs, start and end times) will be published on the website in early March.

Piano solo, duet to octet using the above instruments [Examples of arrangements: string quartet, wind quintet, duet with string/wind instruments and piano, piano duet, piano trio] (two pianos are not permitted)

Assignment song

■Piano Solo Category {Live Performance Style} {YouTube Video Style} 

All movements of Mozart’s piano sonatas (choose one from the following 18 pieces: KV279, KV280, KV281, KV282, KV283, KV284, KV309, KV310, KV311, KV330, KV331, KV332, KV333, KV457, KV533/494, KV545, KV570, KV576). As a general rule, no repeats are allowed.
The preliminary video will play one movement of your choice. For the final round, all movements will be played (the same piece as in the preliminary round).
Memorization is not required.

■Chamber Music Section 《Live Performance Style》 《YouTube Video Style》 

*One to two pieces of free choice, between 10 and 20 minutes, including a work by Mozart*.
*If the participating ensemble does not have any “major original works” by Mozart, there is no need to perform a Mozart work.
*Performance of arrangements and performances on instruments other than those specified by the composer are also permitted. Concerto selections are also permitted.
*Excerpts are also permitted (not all movements are required).

*For the “Live Performance Style” judging, the performance section may be specified on the day.
*For the “YouTube Video Style” final selection video, you may record each piece and movement separately, but please be sure to submit them all together in one video.
